• Checking – checking cross references, making sure facts and arguments are plausible, checking names and character traits remain the same
• Correcting and consistency checking – correcting spelling and grammatical mistakes, consistency of the use of italics or Bold and helping include clarity with formatting
• Communication – Liaising with the Author on preferred style points and possible rewording
The cost of copy editing depends on the nature of writing being reviewed, and any other requirements that you might have (for example, if you were to request the use of a specifc style guide) but typically would cost £600 for a 100,000 word novel.
